One page for the board: the metrics that move the conversation forward

One page for the board separates signals from reporting.

KORVENIQ CEO / 2026

Board materials easily turn into a thick pack of reports: dozens of slides, hundreds of indicators and almost no clarity on what has really changed. Board members drown in detail, and the conversation drifts away from the main decisions.

We arrived at a one-page format. It helps tell signals from reporting and tie product changes to financial results — and it is where the board conversation starts.

Signals and reporting are not the same thing

Reporting describes what happened: revenue, costs, plan execution. A signal says what is changing and needs attention: a trend deviation, a new risk, an unexpected effect of a decision.

A conversation about signals is more useful to the board: they allow timely intervention. Reporting stays in the appendix for those who want to check the detail.

WHAT THE PAGE CONTAINS

01IndicatorsA few metrics that move the conversation forward.
02SignalsWhat is changing and needs the board's attention.
03RisksKey uncertainties and the plan to respond to them.
04DecisionsWhat exactly is required from the board at this meeting.
“A good board document does not show everything we know, but helps see what is important to decide.”
CEO, KORVENIQ

Linking product changes and finance

For each significant product change the page states which financial indicator it should move and by what sign we will know it worked. A discussion of the product and a discussion of money stop being two separate conversations.

If the link is not visible, that is a signal to refine the hypothesis, not simply to add another metric.

What the page contains

The page has a few indicators chosen for their ability to move the conversation, a short comment on deviations, the main risks and the decisions required from the board. Everything else goes to the appendix.

Each indicator comes with a note: why it is here and what we will do if it changes.

The appendix stays for detail, while the conversation is built around one page.

Keeping the format useful

The page is revisited before every board meeting: indicators that stopped being informative are replaced. The format is valuable as long as it remains a short and honest picture.

If explaining something takes a twenty-slide appendix, we have not yet understood the main point and should say so plainly.
